Maya Stocks is a qualified counsellor who provides a warm, supportive, and culturally responsive space for individuals seeking meaningful change. She is passionate about working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and is committed to making therapy accessible, respectful, and empowering.

Maya supports clients experiencing anxiety, stress, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions. She understands that each person’s story is unique and works collaboratively with clients to explore their experiences, build self-awareness, and develop practical strategies to navigate challenges with greater confidence and clarity. Her approach is primarily person-centred, grounded in empathy, authenticity, and nonjudgment.

Maya integrates evidence-based techniques where appropriate, tailoring her work to suit each client’s individual needs, values, and goals. She believes that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for growth and that feeling genuinely heard and understood can create powerful opportunities for change. With a professional background as an interpreter and ESL teacher (Teaching English as a Second Language), Maya brings a deep appreciation for cultural identity, communication, and the complexities of navigating different systems and environments. This experience enhances her ability to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds with sensitivity and insight.

Maya’s passion for counselling is deeply informed by her own lived experience of loss, life challenges, and a personal journey of self-discovery and growth. These experiences have shaped her belief in the resilience of individuals and the importance of having a safe space to be truly heard and understood.

She values practices such as yoga to support balance and wellbeing, and brings a sense of warmth, authenticity, and gentle humour into her work, recognising that moments of lightness can be an important part of the healing process.
